Top Six Activities to Enjoy Around Niseko this Summer!

Summer in the Niseko area is just as exhilarating and spectacular as winter! Some may even say the ‘summer vibe’ is better than during the colder months, thanks to fewer people and, of course, the warmer weather. Whatever you prefer, we vote Niseko is a great place to visit all year ‘round! Check out our list of top ‘green season’ activities!

1. Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Fancy cruising on a crystal-clear lake with a group of friends while a picnic awaits you back at shore? Or exploring calm inland rivers and waterways that are seemingly untouched? Or maybe you just love the total body workout you get from a vigorous power paddle! No matter what you choose, there is a lot to love about SUPing in Niseko in summer. Rhythm offers high quality boards for rent for all experience levels. We can also provide guided tours of Niseko’s many near-by picture perfect paddling destinations.

 

2. Hike

In summer Niseko’s glorious Annupuri ranges turn from sparkling white to brilliant green. The area is also home to beautiful forests and national parks, all begging to be explored by foot. Rhythm’s guides can take you on a tour of the marked trails, which range in difficulty so there’s something to suit all fitness levels.

 

3. Pump Track Riding

So what exactly is a pump track? It’s an endless loop of rollers and berms where riders propel themselves through the track by shifting their body weight or pumping in conjunction with the track contours, rather than having to pedal. Pump Tracks are super fun, great exercise and will help improve your bike skills. And it’s not just for cyclists, skateboarders, scooter riders and rollerbladers can give the pump track a

Go, too! Rhythm will be running free clinics on the track every second Friday in the afternoon to help improve skills. We also rent bikes and helmets for anyone who wants to give the track a go.

 

4. Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is an increasingly popular sport in and around Niseko, which means more and more trails are being built and maintained. Right now there is something for everyone, including an exhilarating downhill trails down the main face of the Hirafu Resort. For intermediate riders and above there is a flow trail down the bottom third of the same run. For beginners there is another flow trail at the Ginto site, just outside of the Hirafu Village. More flow trails can be found at Kutchan and near-by Rusutsu. Drop into Rhythm for more information and also for any bike servicing and rental. 5. Road Cycling

Not many people realise that Niseko is a road cyclists dream! The roads in the area are quiet and in great condition. There is loads of variety too, from cruisy flats to heart pumping steeps, it doesn’t matter if you’re an athlete or just a beginner! Rhythm can provide the wheels you need, including race bikes, plus a guide to get you out and about. We can also organise overnight rides that include stays and meals in traditional ryokans (Japanese bed and breakfasts). Just ask us!

 

6. Shopping

Niseko’s best shops are open for business during summer! This includes Zaka, which is Hirafu’s high-end boutique specialising in athleisure wear, including a range of golf clothing from Bogner and Kjus. Zaka is also home to Moncler, Asia’s favourite Italian luxury snow and leisure brand. Burton is also open stocking a range of streetwear along with camping and outdoor essentials.
