Some people come to Niseko for the pow, others for the onsen, then, there’s the unlucky few who seemingly spend their entire trip tending to a crying kid at the bottom of ‘Family Run’. If you fall into the last category, we feel for you – we’ve all been there as well.
But family holidays to the snow don’t always have to be difficult. In fact, they can be super easy if you know all the hidden tips and tricks on the best ways to approach them. Early bird, shoulder season discounts, travel packages, there are a LOAD of ways you can minimise the stress (and cost) of your family holiday.
But if you want to know the biggest trick of all, it’s our Kids Week program.
what’s Kids Week?
Five days for you and the hubby to enjoy après stress free!
But seriously – five days of on-snow learning with a supportive group of participants and the same instructor all week long, Kids Week offers up the easy alternative for those looking for ski lessons for their young ones, while also providing them with the best, most supportive and fun on-snow experience in Niseko.
As explained by the programs director, Joe Boardman,
“Having the same coach through the whole week just provides such a better experience for the kids and for the coach. They create such a good bond and they really sort of progress not just with their skiing but as people as well.”
What Style Of Riding Does kids Week Cover?
Everything! It doesn’t matter if your little grom is a first-timer or a surefire pick for the 2026 Winter Olympics, Kids Week will have a program suited for your young ones.
Don’t believe us? Take it from the ones who know best, the participants coming back year-on-year, two of which are Tyson and Anna.
If you saw any of our footage of Kids Week last winter, you would have undoubtedly come across Tyson. Slightly shy in front of the camera, we got a whopping one answer out of the young lad, with the question being:
What’s Been Your Favourite Kids Week Lunch?
His response: “beer.” (Disclaimer: Tyson is a bit of a joker, we DO NOT serve beer during our Kids Week lunches).
This season, he’s chilled out on the beers and we couldn’t get him away from the camera (even if it was just to throw snowballs at it), excitedly telling us how his week is going to consist of “backflips and 360’s in the park”.
Anna, on the other hand, will happily not be learning how to backflip, stating her only backflips have been “unintentional.”
And while it’s easy to boil their statements down to youthful optimism, they’re actually not wrong, with Joe explaining, “We have the ability to take them into the parks. We’ve got freestyle specific guys that we can take them out there into the park or to some of the inbound gates like Strawberry Fields and Waterfall.”

“It’s really not just your general ski lessons, we have exploration challenges, a photo challenge, a three-star specific day, a dress-up day–we really try and make each day as fun as we can and while also honing in on the technical side of things in the lessons.”
He couldn’t be more right, with groups decided based on disciplines and skill sets, Kids Week offers young shredders a chance to improve both their technique and skills, elevating their riding to the next level, whether they are first timers or aspiring professionals.
“Having the same coach through the whole week just provides such a better experience for the kids and for the coach. They create such a good bond and they really sort of progress not just with their skiing but kind of as a person as well, it’s super special.”
