What is your tip to riding deep pow? 

Get the right ski for the conditions. Talk to the team at Rhythm for the best advice and technical knowledge in town 

What is your best vending machine buy? 

Sapporo Classic of course

Describe your best day in Niseko? 

Climbing Mt Yotei at midnight to get a sunrise line into the crater

Tell us about your riding outerwear?

Oyuki merino base and mid layers to keep me warm and comfy while a 3 Layer gortex Jacket from Arteryx keeps off the snow and wind. Oyuki Haika mitts to keep the hands toasty, Dalbello Lupo 120 boots, Faction Candide 3.0 with the Atomic Shift binding completes the setup. 

In 3 words describe what the snow is like in Niseko? 

Deep, Dry and in my face

What is the first thing you do when you arrive in Japan? 

Eat Soup curry from Tsubara Tsubara in Izumikyo village 

What is your fav Japanese snack food? 

Tuna mayo Onigiri 

What are you frothing on in Rhythm retail this year? 

The new range of Oyuki face masks and Balaclavas look pretty sweet

Best place to eat in town and why? 

Soup Curry because you get a heaps of vegetables, good pork and some spice to warm you up on a snowy day

What do you always take riding no matter what? 

Spare goggle lense – Seeing is believing 

Where do you go on a night out? 

I like Bar Moon for a couple games of pool and a few beers but of course Barumba is my second living room. 

What’s your tips to living in Niseko? 

Get some good apres boots to get around – no one likes wet feet. 

What’s your tip to staying warm this winter? 

Oyuki merino thermals are warm and comfy against the skin, perfect for skiing or when you’re just out and about in town

What makes you stoked about living in a ski resort? 

Whatever is happening in life, skiing and being in the mountains is the ultimate escape for me. having that on my doorstep is priceless.

Tips to keeping your hard goods in pristine condition? 

Regular tuning is the number one thing to keep your gear running smoothly 

How did you come to work at Rhythm? 

I got injured instructing in Niseko and wondered into the shop looking for work I could do with a bum knee. 7 years later here I am!

Life Motto? 

It sounds cheesy but living in the moment is a powerful thing. The past has gone and the future might never come so live today and make it epic. 

What is your go-to Karaoke song? 

Gangsters Paradise – Coolio 

What’s your favourite part of the job? 

Helping people, both staff and customers to discover the joys of skiing the amazing snow here in Japan
