Today (November 23) the Niseko United Resort opened up again for another incredible winter! The chairlifts are now open and ready for all the excited skiers and boarders who are ready to ride. A traditional Shinto ceremony was held in order to garner in good luck and safety for the upcoming season. A priest gave blessings and presented offerings of food and sake, while performing traditional chanting.

After the ceremony, the lifts were opened to the public.

People lined up to ride the slopes on the very first day. Niseko had been dumping snow for the previous week and a half, so the mountain had plenty of powder for the excited skiers and snowboarders. Though it had been raining at ground level, the snow was falling freely at the top of the slopes.

Niseko is now starting to brim with activity as the winter season approaches. The shops, restaurants, and bars are opening their doors and will be ready for the influx of excited skiers and boarders that will soon be arriving.

Rhythm Japan and Rhythm Summit in Niseko are both officially opening this Saturday, November 25 and Rhythm Japan Hakuba is opening on December 1. We can’t wait to host you and assist with all your snow adventures this season.
