GOT A POWDER SNOW FANATIC IN THE FAMILY? WHAT TO BUY THEM THIS CHRISTMAS!

Posted by: Rhythm Japan 21 December 2016

What springs to mind when you hear the term ‘white Christmas’? Is it log fireplaces? Snowmen wrapped in red and white scarves? Hot ham glazed in maple honey? What about ‘getting slapped in the face with bucket loads of Japan’s finest powder’? If that’s your answer, you’re probably as obsessed with snow as we are.

Here’s a list you can pass on to your friends and family so they can fill your Santa stockings this Christmas!

1. Women’s Strafe Cloud 9 Ski Jacket

Strafe is a brand straight out of Aspen, so you know their gear is built to withstand harsh mountain conditions. The Cloud 9 Jacket has all the bells and whistles you’d expect in a piece of quality mountain apparel including watertight zippers, removable powder skirt, underarm belts and a helmet compatible, ergonomic hood.

2. Men’s Moncler Grenoble Rodenberg Ski Jacket

Moncler’s Grenoble line of outerwear is as functional as it is fancy. This down jacket comes with a powder skirt, inner goggle pocket, an adjustable drawstring hood and reinforced shoulders for reassurance when carrying skis. The feel and fit of this jacket can’t be matched and it doubles up as the perfect sartorial option for après.

3. Oyuki Merino Proclava

Oyuki’s products are designed and tested in Niseko, Japan. Merino wool offers efficient temperature regulation, excellent moisture management and effective odour control. This highly functional fabric is also made up of extremely fine fibres that are springier than other wool fibres, which is why merino feels soft (not itchy!) next to your skin. 100% of merino sheep agree that this product will keep you warmer, more comfortable and on the mountain longer.

5. Pieps Tour Rider JetForce Avalanch Pack

Contained within this pack is a battery operated jet powered fan that can inflate a 200 litre airbag in 3.5 seconds. If inflated during an avalanche situation, the airbag will help keep you near the surface and more visible to rescuers.  The pack also features a ski or snowboard carry system, a dedicated avalanche tools pocket, helmet holder and single ice-axe attachment.
